Watermead Challenge

Watermead Challenge 2010 was our first sponsored charity run and walk at Watermead Country Park near Syston. Runners and walkers of all abilities were  invited to join this community event. One hundred and eighty entrants took part on the evening of Wednesday 14th July. After a torrential downpour in the afternoon the clouds parted and the race conditions over five and three miles on flat, tarmac surfaced tracks were perfect.

Procceds went to the Richard Engelgardt Trust Fund, St John Ambulance and local to Syston and Birstall youth groups and clubs. Richard is now wheelchair bound following an injury sustained playing for Birstall Rugby Club at the start of the 2009/10 season.

The second Watermead Challenge took place on Wednesday 13th July 2011. There were 230 entrants in total for the three mile and five mile course. Profits this time went to the local branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Many thanks to all who support this event. The 2012 Watermead Challenge will be on Wednesday 11th July at 7pm. We look forward to  your entry! Please see our home page for full details.
